ROLE

In this project, I was charged to create the album cover, website layout and rework one of the songs.

ABOUT

Summer 2016, I worked in a collaborative project that requires to produce an EP album of 7 to 8 songs. In preparation for this, each person would develop 2 songs. This album was  presented in a website that encourage visitors to our music album. While I was creating the album cover, I wanted to Develop a cover that reflects and complements the focus of our album since our album was about mass incarceration.

"My artwork takes a critical view of the viewpoints of both those looking in as outsiders and as those incarcerated looking out from behind bars. The black background is meant to represent those looking in, as they view those incarcerated as "less than" and as forever a part of something negative. The reason as to why there is light coming out of the cell where those incarcerated are standing is to represent the light and hope that feel, and hope will come for them. The album directly challenges the issue of mass incarceration and how that issue affects mainly people of the lower class. Mass incarceration is a form of modern day racism and that is what our album and the songs included represent"
